Sometimes I find I am not even aware of how much I need Silence - until I hear it.
When the phones are quiet and the neighbors are away...when I can close my eyes and dwell in what I don't hear...Silence then becomes very, very beautiful.

Periods of silence and solitude were both recognized by saints of the past as necessary and beneficial to a vibrant spiritual life. No less so today, even though in the modern world setting aside time for these is harder to accomplish.
Silence is a precious commodity.It probably is a key to sanity, also equanimity, especially the silence of the night.
New look for the blog! I like it! And today's image is also beautiful. I like the way the flower and background are separated in this image, Stacey. And the vignetting also add a lot to the image. Very creatively done! Nice.
